Christine Genis Obituary
She was born April 7, 1948, in Chicago, the daughter of Dominic and Evelyn (Miskowicz) Trojanowski.
Chris attended Fenger Christian High School, graduating in June of 1966.
She worked part time at Saxon Paint in Roseland, where she met her future husband, Ray Genis. Chris then worked in downtown Chicago for Continental Assurance.
Chris and Ray were married Aug. 31, 1968, just prior to Ray going to Vietnam from 1968 to 1969. While Ray was in Vietnam, Chris gave birth to their first daughter, Theresa (O'Connor), on June 16, 1968. Their second daughter, Debra (Pasek), was born May 14, 1972.
After her children were grown, Chris worked at CSL Behring as an administrative assistant, retiring at 65 years of age, after working 31 years. After retirement, she built their second home in Bourbonnais, where she lived for 15 years.
Not leading an altogether boring life, she had traveled to Hawaii and cruised the islands. Chris traveled to New York to see "Phantom of the Opera" on Broadway and toured the 9/11 Twin Tower Memorials. She also journeyed to Albuquerque, N.M., to see 500 hot air balloons and actually went for a ride in a private, untethered flight. Chris traveled to Atlanta on New Year's Eve to see the giant peach drop. Additionally, she cruised to Alaska and on the east coast from New York to Nova Scotia. Many trips enjoying life were taken. While at home, she always enjoyed her house, working in her garden and tending to her flowers.
Chris had a full life of love that would, in August of 2023, have been 55 years of marriage. A wonderful and beautiful journey.
Surviving are her husband, Ray Genis, of Bourbonnais; two daughters, Theresa and Mark O'Connor, of Limestone, and Debra and Ed Pasek, of Plainfield; five grandchildren, Jackie Pasek, Andrew O'Connor, Nathan O'Connor, Alex Pasek and Michael Pasek; and two great-grandchildren, Russell Strub and Kinlee O'Connor.
As per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Private family services will be held.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
Funeral arrangements are by Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais.
