James Neuschwander Obituary
He was born Sept. 13, 1933, in the village of Dakota, the son of Harold and Alice (Hugelshoffer) Neuschwander.
Jim married Nancy Kauth, in Streator, on June 29, 1958. She preceded him in passing Nov. 22, 1988. He later married Delores Webb Hoppel, in Donovan, on Aug. 11, 1990.
Surviving are his wife, Dee Neuschwander, of Watseka; one son, Jeff (Lori) Neuschwander, of St. Charles, Mo.; two daughters, Karen (Brad) Hutchinson, of Morton, and Sara (Trevor) Hartman, of Overland Park, Kan.; three stepchildren, Fonda Vickery, of Athens, Tenn., Doug Hoppel, of Indianapolis, Ind., and Jason (Chrissie) Hoppel, of Deltona, Fla.; one sister, Helen Clay, of Dakota; 18 grandchildren, Jordan and Lucas Neuschwander, Marissa Wiegand, Bryce, Kelsi, Dylan, Macie and Nicole Hutchinson. Mitchell and Nancy Dondlinger, Brandon Vickery, Katie Grant, Jamin Hoppel, Kaylee Hoppel, Donald Hoppel and Krystina O'Quinn; and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his first wife, Nancy, he was preceded in passing by his parents; one brother, Don Neuschwander; two sisters, Dorothy Mead and Carol Kromhout; and one daughter, Kathleen Sue Neuschwander.
He graduated from the University of Illinois and later worked, for over 36 years, for the University of Illinois Extension Services.
He was a member of Shewami Country Club, where he enjoyed golfing. Jim loved playing cards, hunting, fishing, farming and tending to his orchard. He enjoyed traveling, wintering in Florida and spending time with his family and friends.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 5 at Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 6, at Donovan United Methodist Church in Donovan. The Rev. Kevin Nourie will officiate. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. in Melvin Cemetery in Melvin.
Memorials may be made to Iroquois Memorial Hospice.

Neuschwander family: I extend my condolences on the passing of Jim.
I followed Jim in Ford County Extension. He and I worked together as neighboring Extension Agents. He was a good County Agent and friend.
