Keith A. Schweigert, age 65, of Bourbonnais, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.
He was born May 20, 1960, in Kankakee, the son of Alma and Wayne Schweigert.
Keith married Laurie Bazzell on September 7, 1985, in Fairbury.
He was a retired employee of Dow Chemical Company and Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School.
Keith coached baseball and softball in the Bradley-Bourbonnais area for more than 30 years. He was one of the founders of the Bourbonnais Braves organization, where he also coached for 10 years. Coaching was one of the great loves of his life, but he was far more than just a coach. He was a mentor, a role model, and a steady presence in the lives of countless young men and women who had the privilege of playing for him -including all three of his children. Above all else, he loved spending time with his family. Whether in Siesta Key, at a ball field, or simply enjoying the view from his own backyard, being near his loved ones brought him the greatest joy.
He was also a proud member of Gathering Point Church.
Surviving are his wife, Laurie Schweigert of Bourbonnais; two sons, Brad (Tami) Schweigert of Kankakee and Andrew Schweigert, a student at Heartland Community College in Bloomington; one daughter, Kinzie Schweigert (fiancé, Connor Healy) of Chicago; and two grandchildren, Noah and Logan. He is also survived by his twin brother, Kevin Schweigert (Roxanne Hines) of Bradley; and three sisters and four brothers-in-law, Barbara (Dale) Hartman of Bourbonnais, Brenda (Mike) Morgan of Kankakee, Rhonda (Dave) Luhrsen of Chebanse, and Miles Morrical of Kankakee. He will also be lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews, as well as his beloved brothers- and sisters-in-law on Laurie's side of the family. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Karen Morrical.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, September 29, at Gathering Point Church in Bourbonnais.
