Lavella M. Arp, Age 105, of Arlington Heights, IL, formerly of Momence, IL, passed away on Friday, November 14, 2025, at The Landing on Dundee in Wheeling, IL. She was born on September 24, 1920, in Saskatchewan, Canada, the daughter of Lee and Celina LeCocq Stuckey.
She married Arnold Arp on June 6, 1942, in Papineau, IL. He preceded her in death on January 12, 2005.
She is survived by her daughter; Selma Arp of Arlington Heights, IL. Her son and daughter-in-law; Terry and Pamela Arp of Deforest, WI. Her sister; Ella Haberkorn of Watseka, IL. Also surviving are two grandchildren Sheila (Aaron) Briggs and Terry Jr. (Liz) Arp and two great-grandchildren; Zoe Briggs and Riley Briggs.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her three brothers; Clarence Stuckey, Gerald Stuckey and Isadore Stuckey, and two sisters; Leota Boudreau and Dorothy Knoblauch.
She was a hairdresser for many years and owned and operated "Lavella's Beauty Shop" for over 40 years in Momence.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Momence, IL, the American Legion Auxiliary and VFW and served as president for both organizations for many years. Former volunteer for Main Street Momence. She was honored as Citizen of the Year during the Gladiolus Festival.
Lavella loved to sew and helped many as a seamstress. She also volunteered for 30 years as the coordinator of Meals on Wheels.
Visitation will be held from 4:00PM – 6:00PM on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at the Cotter Funeral Home in Momence, IL. Prior to services, visitation will occur 9:00AM-10:00AM on Friday, November 21, 2025.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00AM on Friday, November 21, 2025, at the First Baptist Church in Momence, IL.
Pastor Jeff Evans will officiate.
Interment: Will be at the Kankakee Memorial Gardens in Kankakee, IL.
Memorials may be made to the Momence Honor Guard or the River Valley Animal Rescue.
