Leonard Hamlin Obituary

Died: March 9, 2026
Leonard C. Hamlin, age 84, of Kankakee, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026 at his home. He was born on November 17, 1941 in Syracuse, NY, the son of Kenneth and Rose (Carfagno) Hamlin. He married Patricia Andrews on October 16, 1982 in Kankakee.
Leonard served in the United States Army, first from 1959 until 1962, with another tour from 1964 until 1967. He was a proud veteran and enjoyed everything about the military, including restoring an Army Jeep. Leonard was a letter carrier and served as a Vehicle Operations Maintenance Assistant (VOMA) for the Post Office until he retired. He was an automobile fanatic and loved restoring old cars.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Patricia Hamlin of Kankakee; one son, Kenneth (Patricia) Hamlin of Bradley; one daughter, Melody (Ty) Adams of Kankakee; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth Hamlin of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Nancy Ceriani; and one sister-in-law, Shirley Hamlin.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Monday, March 16, 2026 at Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home in Kankakee. Cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
Memorials may be made to VITAS Hospice, the Illinois Veterans' Home at Manteno, or the Kankakee County Humane Foundation.
