Miriam 'Pam' LaPorte

Miriam "Pam" LaPorte, 76, of Kankakee, passed away peacefully in the presence of her loving family at her daughter's home in Ashkum on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, following a short illness.
Pam was the firstborn child to Lawrence and Evelyn (Dionne) Love on May 3, 1949 in Kankakee. She married John "Jack" LaPorte on November 27, 1971. Pam and Jack were married for 43 years before his passing in May of 2015. Together they raised their only child, Lisa.
Pam spent the majority of her life working in child daycare. For several years she worked alongside her mother Evelyn and her daughter Lisa at the Y.W.C.A in Kankakee. After leaving the Y.W.C.A., Pam dedicated her time to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her hobbies included playing cards, especially euchre, and board games. She was an avid reader and had often spent time writing her own book. She had a great love for the Hallmark channel, and Food Channel. Her utmost love outside of her family was Christmas. Pam loved the Christmas season so much that she never wanted it to end. She passed that love of the holiday season on to Lisa.
Pam is survived by her only child, a daughter, Lisa (Keith) Cooper; her grandchildren, Doug (Traci) Cooper, Brittany (Alan) Cox, Jordan (Ricki) Cooper, and Austin (Reagan) Cooper; as well as her 12 great-grandchildren, Autumn, Halle, Brystal, Hunter, Hazel, AJ, Brady, Carter, Davin, Reid, Emmett, and Annalisa; her brother, Larry (Lynn) Love of Watseka; sister, Debra Young of Seguin, TX; aunt, Shirley Saathoff of Bradley; sisters-in-law, Kathy LaPorte of Bradley and, Linda LaPorte of Arizona; brother-in-law, Richard (Marre) of California as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews, and xtra "grandchild" Isaiah Louer, whom she babysat for multiple years.
She is preceded in death by her husband Jack; her parents, Lawrence and Evelyn Love; aunt Dori & uncle Ambrose; uncle, Don; as well as both maternal and paternal grandparents.
Visitation for Pam will be on Tuesday, Dec 2, 2025 from 4 to 7 pm at the Kankakee Schreffler Funeral Home on West Court St in Kankakee. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Dec 3, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Kankakee Schreffler. Cremation rights will follow along with a private family burial at Mount Calvary where she will once again forever lay beside Jack. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Pam's name may be made to her family to donate to a
