Neil Osgood Talbert

Neil Osgood Talbert, 95, died on December 8, 2024, at a care facility in Glendale, AZ where he resided for the last years of his life.

He is survived by his second wife, Betsy Talbert, of Sun City West, Arizona and by his four children and their spouses: Robert N. Talbert and his wife, Becky, of Darnestown, Maryland; Marjorie Staniszeski and her husband Steve, of Mesa, Arizona; Nancy Longtin and her husband, Bernard, of Mesa, Arizona; and Jay Talbert and his wife, Laurie, of Clearfield, Utah. He is also survived by his brother, Robert D. Talbert, and his brother's wife, Roberta (Bobbye) Talbert, of Payson, Utah, along with more than 50 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as other descendants of Betsy Talbert.

Neil was born in Onarga, Illinois on November 3, 1929. He graduated from Onarga High School and worked for 40 years for the New York Central, Penn Central and Conrail railroads. He married Helen Anne Stewart in Onarga in 1950; she passed away in 2009 in Arizona. He was a founding member of the Kankakee congregation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in many leadership positions including Branch President and Bishop. After he retired in 1992, he and Helen served several missions for their church.

A memorial service and gravesite dedication will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, beginning at 11:00 am in the chapel of the Onarga Cemetery in Onarga, Illinois.
