Susie Wilking, 72, of Clifton, formerly of Chebanse, passed away Sunday, February 9th, at LaBella of Clifton. She was born to Marvin and Lila (Wegener) Walter July 10, 1952, in Bay City, Michigan, and married John J. Wilking July 10, 1976 in Bay City. He passed away September 26, 2009.
Survivors include her mother, Lila Walter, of Freeland, MI, one son, Jamie Wilking (Danielle Vanzandt) of Herscher, two grandchildren, Lucas Vanzandt and Scarlett Wilking, two brothers, Timothy (Teresa) Walter of Millington, MI, and Rev. Jody Walter of Webster, WI, sister-in-law Pam Wilking of Bonfield, and brother-in-law Amos "Butch" (Pat) Wilking of Chebanse, along with 3 nieces and a nephew.
In addition to her husband, John, Susie was preceded in death by her father, Marvin Walter, twin sons, Joseph John and Jacob Paul Wilking, her sister, Sandra Walter, brothers Danny Walter and Mark Walter, brothers-in-law Raymond "Buzz" Wilking and William Schatz, sisters-in-law Bonnie Walter and Patricia Schatz, a niece, Rebecca Schatz, and a nephew, Garrett Wilking.
Mrs. Wilking taught 3rd and 4th grade at Zion Lutheran School in Chebanse from 1974-1979, and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years. She was a graduate of Concordia College in Seward, Nebraska, where she played clarinet in the Marching Band. She enjoyed time with her son and grandchildren, watching Jeopardy!, and enjoyed watching baseball, the Tigers in her youth, and the Cubs after coming to Chebanse.
Services will be at 11:00 am on Monday, February 17, 2025 at Zion Lutheran Church in Chebanse with Rev. Benjamin Hayter officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Chebanse.
Visitation will be two hours prior to the funeral service, from 9:00-11:00 at church.
Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton is in charge of the arrangements for the family.
Susie's favorite color was green, so the family would appreciate visitors wearing something green in her honor.
