William Scott (Tubby) Mather, 62, of Greensboro, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025, with his loving wife by his side. He was born on March 7, 1963, in Kankakee, Illinois, to Russell and Betty Mather.
Scott was warm, fun loving and loyal. He lived his life to the fullest with authenticity, honesty, and heart. He spent his career as an auto trim & glass technician and had a natural gift for working with cars and fixing just about anything. He will be remembered most for being one of a kind; a man with a great heart, a quick wit, and a ready laugh that could fill a room.
He married Megan Meers in July 2010, and together they shared a life full of travel, joy, and unforgettable memories. Scott was a devoted father, husband, brother, uncle, and a friend to everyone lucky enough to know him.
In his free time, he enjoyed riding his Harley, going to races, fishing, boating, cheering on his beloved Chicago Bears and Cubs, listening to music, playing the lottery and seeking out new adventures. He also loved dogs and was known for handing out treats to all the local pups. These moments brought him immense joy and created memories his family and friends will hold close forever.
Scott is survived by his loving wife, Megan; his son, Jordan; his brother, Roger; and many cherished nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Russell; his mother, Betty; his sisters, Shelia and Scherry; his brother, Rusty; and his nephews Michael and David.
A Celebration of Life will be held on November 22nd at Forbis & Dick Funeral Services, visitation from 2-4 PM followed by a service at 4 PM. Friends and family are invited to gather, remember and honor his life.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or AuthoraCare Collective of Greater Greensboro (Hospice).
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the Wesley Long Cancer Team, Atrium Health Wake Forest Cancer Team, Beacon Place, and the many neighbors and friends who supported Scott throughout his long and courageous journey.
