John Caturano Obituary

Caturano, John Steven Age 89. Resident of Geneseo, IL, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2013. John was born in Chicago, IL on December 17, 1923 and lived most of his life in Chicago's East Side neighborhood. John was a World War II Veteran, and served his country as a Medic in the Army. He retired from Interlake/Acme Steel's Torrence Avenue Coke Plant. After retirement, John enjoyed his hobby of building miniature dollhouse rooms and furnishings. Besides spending time with his friends and family, the long standing enjoyment of his lifetime was sitting down to watch a Cubs game on TVwin or lose. Loving spouse of Jerre (née Carey), of Geneseo, IL (formerly of Chicago); kind and gentle father of Joan Meyers-Muschwitz (Bernard) of Valparaiso, IN, John Caturano, Jr. (Julie) of Wheaton, IL, Jean Leinweber (David) of Chesterton, IN; loved by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; dear brother of Mary Vanek of Hammond, IN; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, the late Antonio and Rosa Caturano (née Tufano); a brother, Vincent ("James") and sister, Carmella Kurasz. John's loving family will hold a private celebration of his life. Donations can be made to Preferred Home Health Care, 150 W. South Street, Kewanee, IL 61443.

Our family is so saddened with Uncle John's passing. I'm sure there's a grand re-union taking place in heaven that somehow includes a huge a huge bowl of pasta and a jug of Grandpa Caturano's vino.

God bless you Uncle John. You will truly be missed.
