Martin Lueders Obituary

Lueders, Martin J. "Marty" Born on the Fourth of July, 1962 in Niles, Michigan and passed away on June 10, 2014 in Chicago Heights, Illinois following a long illness. Marty grew up in Homewood, Illinois and lived many years in Scotland and Washington, D.C. As an adult, he led an adventurous life as a photojournalist, documenting injustice, poverty and suffering in bleak and dangerous war-torn corners of the world. Marty was the son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Lueders. He is survived by his three children, Eilidh, Jack and Callum of Scotland; his siblings, Ann (David) Braden, Peter (Nancy), Jane (Jim Kessler), Tom and Carolyn (David) Burica; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by these; his beloved fiancée, Kathy Hillgard; and many friends throughout the community and country. Private celebrations of his life have been held.

He burned bright, and forced us to see in high contrast, in black and white, a frozen moment, seared reality, Playing for Keeps, wars perpetrators as victims, and like a flash bulb burning-out into darkness all to soon!
