Muthu Shamaiengar

Shamaiengar, Dr. Mike (January 17, 1924 May 25, 2011) Muthu 'Dr. Mike' Shamaiengar's life journey began on January 27th, 1924 in Bangalore, India. His aspiration of immigrating to America was realized in 1956 when granted a sponsorship to study at Carnegie-Mellon University. His academic achievements were many; multiple Baccalaureate, Masters and Doctorate degrees in chemistry and chemical engineering. Patented inventions and many scientific innovations were highlights in a brilliant career. He challenged us with his intellect and loved us with his soul. He revealed the wonders and mysteries of the world, and unlocked the happiness in our hearts. His home was open to all he encountered, as was his heart. He was eccentric and complex; a genius and a clown. He never failed to surprise and delight; every day with him was an adventure. Mike is survived and loved by his wife Shantha; daughters Rita Kikoen, Lata Lovell, Gita McCarthy; sons Baiju Shamaiengar, Ravi Shamaiengar; sons-in-law Steve Lovell, David Kikoen; daughter-in-law Beth Shamaiengar; granddaughters Jenny, Christina, Lauren; grandsons: Brian, Brandon, Stephen, Sean, Pierson; and eight great-grandchildren. Services will be held in Williamsburg, Virginia on Memorial Day, May 30, 2011.
