McSmith, Clifford Faye
Age 88, passed away peacefully in her sleep Friday, April 13, 2018 in Las Cruces, NM. She was born in Graham, TX on April 28, 1929, to Pascal and Nellie Foster Damron.
Clifford graduated from Graham High School in Graham, TX in 1948. She participated in sports, the Junior and Senior plays and cheerleading. She played the drums in the band and the violin in the Orchestra. Clifford married the love of her life, Marvin on December 24, 1948. She graduated from Western New Mexico University in 1974 with a degree in Elementary Education.
Over her career in Bloomfield, NM she touched the lives of countless learners in the areas of Basic Adult Education, English as a Second Language to members of the Navajo Nation, and finished her career as a First Grade Teacher at Central Elementary School. Clifford was a active member of the First Baptist Church, where her beautiful voice could be heard each Sunday, singing praises to the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Clota Mae Yesbec; and her husband, John Marvin McSmith.
Clifford is survived by daughters, Kimberly Karnes and husband, Rocky, and Barbara McSmith; son, John McSmith; her little sister, Nellie Jewel Wheat; grandchildren, Stephanie Blayne, Clint Munoz, Jonathan McSmith, McKensi Cabot, and Morgan Gall; and 9 great grandchildren.
Services will be held on Friday, April 20, 2018, 10:30 am, at First Baptist Church Socorro , 203 Spring Street, Socorro . Interment to follow at Socorro Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Clint Munoz, Jonathan McSmith, Chase Blayne, Michael Blayne, Chris Blayne, Joseph Gall. Honorary Pallbearers are Darrin Cabot and Bruce Hatch.

I loved listening to Cliff sing at our church in Bloomfield. Her voice was musical, too. She was one of the sweetest teachers I ever worked with. Marvin and Cliff could always be counted on for a smile when you needed it!
