Mary Clah Obituary

On a glistening Saturday morning surrounded by family and loved ones, Mary Kady Clah (Shima), who was known as everybody's grandmother, died in Bloomfield. Clah was 88 years old and spent her entire life in T'iis Naz Bas, Ariz.
Mary was of the Tl'izilani clan, born for the Bit'ahnii clan. Her maternal grandparent's clan was Tachii'nii and her paternal grandparent's clan was Ashiihi.
She was a loving woman, who left a legacy of sheep, goats, Navajo rug weaving and the preparation of traditional Navajo foods.
Her nurturing complexion lay under her indomitable demeanor; she expressed her love for others in her own "Shima" way. She was a homemaker who wasn't afraid to get her hands dirty.
She was a hospitable woman who enjoyed knitting, sewing and anything that required her to work with her hands.
Mary was one of eight children born to the late Elizabeth Begay and the late Kady Begay. She leaves behind four surviving siblings, Marilyn Kady, Leonard Kady, Willie Kady and Paul Kady.
Mary was preceded in death by both of her parents; her brothers, George Kady and Clifford Kady; her sister, Stella Kady, and one other sister; as well as two children, Amos Clah and Wallace Clah, Jr.
She is survived by four children, Gloria Clahchischiligi, Vera Clah, Jeanette Clah and Roy Kady. She also leaves behind 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mary will be at 10 a.m. today, Oct. 2, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 473 Road 6100 in Kirtland, with the Rev. Fred Yazzie officiating. A viewing will take place before the funeral from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.
She will be laid to rest in Kirtland-Fruitland Cemetery.
