Mary Louise McCarty, Ph. D.

Mary Louise McCarty, Ph. D., 73, of La Plata went home to her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012. She was born to Robert and Gladys Hammond of Farmington May 28, 1939.
She was married in 1957 to Robert Greene. She was married on May 7, 1958, to Steven Albert McCarty of La Plata.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Winifred Heron; brother, Fred Moss; son, Jimmy McCarty and grandson, James Sterling.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years; her siblings, Carol Halstead, Rob Hammond and Jocelyn Peebles; her children, Maridawn (Terry) Mears, Penny (Mike) Sterling, Molly (Tony) Harris; her grandchildren, Lorien and Phillip Nahkai, Adam Rasmussen and Victoria Jo, Lisa and Chris Culpepper, Jake Sterling and Christy Sterling and her 12 great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be 1:30 p.m. at Freedom Community Church in La Plata.
A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22.
Burial will be at La Plata Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers please give a memorial donation to a library or children's charity.
Arrangements are with BREWER, LEE AND LARKIN FUNERAL HOME, 103 E. Ute St. in Farmington, 505-325-8688.
