Patricia Gonzales Obituary

FARMINGTON
Patricia (Bustos) Gonzales
Aug. 25, 1947 - Nov. 26, 2011

Patricia (Bustos) Gonzales, 64, of Farmington, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011, at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, surrounded by her loving husband and family. She was born Aug. 25, 1947, in Buena Vista, N.M., to Gabriel and Josephine Bustos.
After raising two sons, Anthony Jr. and Greg, Patricia went back to school. She graduated from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colo., with a double major bachelor's degree in History and Spanish. Patricia continued her education, earning a Master's Degree in Political Science from the University of Colorado in Denver.
For nearly 10 years, Patricia proudly worked as a Spanish teacher at Navajo Preparatory School near her home in Farmington.
The role Patricia most cherished in life was that of grandmother to four beautiful grandchildren, Augustino "Tino," Isabella "Bezzie," Marcus "Marky," and Avery "Avy."
She constantly enriched the lives of those around her with her stories of Northern New Mexico history and culture. She was an avid reader, and baker, and loved to go on morning walks through her neighborhood. She intensely loved the environment and appreciated the nuances of animals and wildlife.
She was preceded in passing by her grandmother, Edivufina Bustos; grandfather, Luis Bustos; father, Gabriel; and her brother, Manuel.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Anthony C. Gonzales; her two sons, Anthony Jr., and Greg; her siblings, Gabriel Bustos Jr., Rita Marquez, Lorraine Almanzar, Susie Martinez, Georgette Bustos, Richard Bustos, Teresa Bustos and Barbara-Jean Bustos. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Augustino Gonzales, Isabella Gonzales, Marcus Gonzales and Avery Gonzales.
At the time of death, Patricia had completed a rough draft of a children's history book and was in the preliminary stages of going to print, having already received an ISBN number. The family will continue with the book and see it through to completion.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. today, Dec. 1, at St. Gertrude Catholic Church, One Church Plaza in Mora.
Patricia will be laid to rest at the La Cueva Cemetery.
Refreshments will follow at the VFW in Mora.

Patricia's care has been entrusted to Daniels Family Funeral Services, 2400 Southern Blvd. S.E. in Rio Rancho, (505) 891-9192.

May God bless her entire family. I didn't know her but did know her sister Barbara who shared a lot about her. Adios, Gilbert

This message is for Greg. This is Mrs. Shaw, your first grade teacher from Ladera. I just want you to know that I am sad about the death of your mom and so sorry for your loss. Your mom was a wonderful helper in my classroom and so caring. It was always my pleasure to visit with her when we crossed paths in the neighborhood.
My God just bless you in mighty ways and give you and all the family peace and much comfort.
With love,
Mrs. Shaw and Mr. Buddy
