Raymond Neil Spence
May 21, 1934 - April 23, 2010
Raymond Neil Spence, 75, of Farmington died Friday, April 23, 2010, in Farmington. He was born May 21, 1934, in Dumas, Texas, and raised in Pampa, Texas.
He served in the U.S. Army from March 1958 to March 1960.
On Sept. 6, 1958, he married Lila Vaughn, in Fort McClellan, Anisten, Ala. They moved to Odessa, Texas, in 1959, where he worked for Marchem Chemical. They moved to Farmington in 1965, where he worked for APS for 17 years.
Raymond was a 32nd Degree Mason.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Clara (McAnally) Spence.
Raymond is survived by his wife and best friend, Lila Spence; two sons, Ray Glen Spence of Ramona, Calif., and Gary Spence of Warner Robins, Ga.; daughter, Teresa (Tommy) Hensen; and daughter in-law, Vicki Spence. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Geraldine Lovinggood and Edith Hudson, of Pampa, and Charlene (Joe) Alexander of Odessa; his brother, Bill (Ester) Spence of Plantersville, Texas; and his loving nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 804 N. Dustin Ave., in Farmington.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made instead to the San Juan Cancer Center, c/o San Juan Medical Foundation, P.O. Box 110, Farmington, NM 87499.
