Robert O. "Bob" Ricketts
April 23, 1923 - Jan. 24, 2011
Robert O. "Bob" Ricketts, 87, of Farmington, passed away on Monday, Jan. 24, 2011, in Farmington. He was born April 23, 1923, in Farmington, to Orval and Bertha Ricketts.
Bob graduated with the Farmington High School Class of 1940, and earned a degree in agronomy from New Mexico State University in 1948.
He served in World War II with the U.S. Army, fighting in Europe with the famed 42nd "Rainbow" Infantry Division.
He worked for the Conservation Service and then owned and operated Hustler Press, Inc., with his wife, Erma.
Bob served his country, his community and his church with distinction, and he loved his family deeply.
Our hearts will be lonely without him. We will miss his wit and humor.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother, Jack Ricketts.
He is survived by Erma, his wife of 63 years; sons, Bobby of Greeley, Colo., and Sam (Karen) of Farmington; daughters, Betty Brown and Sally (Rick) Ray, both of Spokane, Wash.; sister, Lillie Fitzhugh of Las Cruces; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous family members and lifelong friends.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, at First United Presbyterian Church, 865 N. Dustin Ave. in Farmington. The Rev. Glenn Perica will officiate.
A reception at First United Presbyterian Church will follow immediately follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to San Juan Medical Foundation for the Connelly Hospitality House, P.O. Box 110, Farmington, NM 87499, or to the charity of your choice.

To the Ricketts family,
Bob was a teacher, mentor and friend to me at a time in my life when I needed just that. The things he taught me are still so important and useful but what I'll remember most was the way his wonderful grin would sneak up on you.
Erma, you and your family are all in my thoughts this week.

Dear Ricketts Family,
Bob was like a grandfather to me when I was a child. My brother and I spent a lot of time with both he and Erma. He was a great man, always full of humor.
