Tomas Duran Obituary

Tomas Duran, Jr.

Farmington - Tomas (Tom) Duran Jr, 68, of Farmington, NM passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2020.

Tom was born December 14, 1952, in Albuquerque, NM to the late Tomas and Frances Duran of Cuba, NM. He grew up in Cuba, NM, with his six siblings.

After four years in the US Army, Tom relocated to Farmington, NM where he pursued his journeyman's electrical license, laying the foundation for his professional career. The family relocated to Los Alamos, NM, where Tom worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory for thirty years. In the Spring of 2019, Tom retired and moved back to Farmington, NM, with his wife, Becky.

Tom was a self-taught musician who found his passion for music later in life. Tom was a gentle soul whose loyalty and dedication was focused on family and his faith. Tom was an inspiration to others around him, and his spirit lives in all who were blessed to know him.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents Tomas and Frances Duran.

I worked with Tomas at Lowes. He was the perfect associate. I loved seeing him come in with his big smile and he would always ask if me and the babies needed anything. I will definitely miss that about him.

I'm sorry, Becky, Stephen, and Linda. Tomas, Becky, and Linda were very hospitable to me when they lived in Los Alamos in 2014 and I delivered their newspaper to them.

My deepest and sincere condolences to Tom's family and friends, I was fortunate to have worked with Tom at Los Alamos National Laboratory and will cherish the many good times we shared. He was a very kind and generous person, always willing to go out of his way to help someone. He talked about how he looked forward to playing his guitar for people at the retirement homes, hospitals and friends. My Prayers go out to your family.

We knew Tom through the Lab as well as his music. He was a kind and soft-spoken person and more importantly a true gentleman. We were lucky to have known, worked, and played music with him. We feel extremely fortunate to have been acquainted with him. The world was certainly a better place for his having been a part of it and he truly will be missed.

We are saddened at the passing on of our dear cousin. We kept in touch , and he came to see us in San Antonio. We shared a love for music , and we sang every chance we could when together . To Becky and all the Duran families, our deepest condolences . We have so many CDs and sheet music and lyrics he sent us of songs we loved, but most of all we have cherished memories of times together. We can be comforted in the precious memories he left us . We will miss him and family reunions won´t be the same without him, for he added so much with his jokes, laughter, and music . So we won´t say "Goodbye" , but "SeeYou Later, Primo."
