Charles Floyd Halsey

NEW MARTINSVILLE - Charles Floyd Halsey, age 80, of New Martinsville, WV, formerly of Elizabeth City, NC, died Friday at his home.

He was born February 22, 1938 in Elizabeth City, NC, a son of the late John Wardell and Martha Edna Lane Halsey.

He was a retired Baptist minister serving Grace Baptist Church Smyrna, DE, Calvery Baptist Church Cameron, WV and Trinity Baptist Church Moundsville, WV and a carpenter.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, 4 brothers, Joe, Eddie, Clarence and Willis Halsey; and two sisters, Margaret Reid and Bessie Sanders.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Eva Pittman Halsey; four sons, Steven Halsey of Smyrna, GA, Richard (Helen) Halsey of Fort Fairfield, ME, Daniel (Tammy) Halsey and John (Dawn) Halsey, both of Dover, DE; three daughters, Susan (Rick) Poling of New Martinsville, Katherine (Harvey) Gromling of Windsor, PA and Rebekah Halsey of Altoona, PA; a brother, Johnny (Dot) Halsey of Raleigh, NC, a sister, Mary Kerr of Vancouver, Washington; 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Family will receive friends on Monday from Noon until time of service at 1:00 pm at the Grisell Funeral Home 751 Third St. New Martinsville, WV, with Pastor Bruce Taylor officiating.

Interment will be in New Hollywood Cemetery Elizabeth City, NC.

Memorial contribution may be made to Alzheimer's Disease Assoc. WV Chapter, 1218 Market St. Parkersburg, WV 26101 or National Kidney Foundation 30 East 33rd St. New York, NY 10016.
