Jimmie Spencer Obituary
Jimmie passed away, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and community service that will long be remembered by those whose lives he touched. A retired Deputy with the Currituck County Sheriff's Department, he spent his career committed to the safety and well-being of his community. Jimmie channeled his skills and work ethic into a successful venture as a self-employed electrical and plumbing contractor. A proud Mason, Jimmie valued the bonds of brotherhood and the spirit of service embodied by the fraternity.
Outside of his professional life, Jimmie was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in hunting and fishing, often spending his free time exploring the great outdoors. His enthusiasm for antique cars was well known, and he could often be found restoring classic vehicles.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Barry Spencer (Lisa) of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Sherry Morgan (Eddie) of Shawboro, NC; brother, Jackie Spencer (Jeanette) of Kinston, NC; sister, Annette Sawyer of Elizabeth City, NC; grandchildren, Melissa Copeland, Brandon Morgan, Justin Spencer, and Gabe Cline; great-grandchildren, Cassidy (Jacob), Taylor, Gunner, and Leon; sisters-in-law, Belinda and Beverly; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Steve Spencer and Daryl Spencer.
Jimmie's memory will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Providence Baptist Church, 765 Shawboro Rd, Shawboro, NC, with Pastor Charles Rickard and the Rev. Charles Stevens officiating. A private burial will take place at West Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family at the daughter's home.
