Lucy Mae Welch Archie Jordan, 78, of 255 Sandy Cross Road, Belvidere, N.C. died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008 at Chesapeake Health and Rehab in Chesapeake, Va. A funeral service will be held at Saunders Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Hertford, N.C. on Monday, Oct. 6, 2008 at 1 p.m. with the Bishop Landon B. Mason officiating. Burial will follow in Saunders Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Hertford, N.C. Viewing will be on Sunday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will receive friends at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Brenda Archie, at 118 Birch Lane, Edenton, N.C. Stallings Memorial Chapel, Hertford, N.C. is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Jordan was the daughter of the late Henry Welch and Mable Robinson Welch and the widow of Lessie Jordan. Survivors include six daughters, Mary Scott and her husband, Charlie, Veronica Miller and husband, Charlie, Dorothy Reid, Betty and husband, Charles, Carol Warren and husband, Mark, of Chesapeake, Va., and Jeraldine Boone and husband, George, of Norfolk, Va.; one son, Thomas Archie and wife, Brenda, of Edenton, N.C.; one sister, Minnie Felton; one brother, Angelo Welch; 28 grandchildren; 69 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three stepchildren, Sharon, Denise and Tywana Archie.
