Maggie Arvilla Owens, 92, passed away on Nov. 18, 2009 in Midlothian, Va. She was a devoted member of the Norfolk Seventh Day Adventist Church and served as their treasurer for 28 years. On Oct. 24th she was thrilled to be able to attend her 75th class reunion at Dr. Griggs/Poplar Branch High School. Mrs. Owens is survived by three daughters, Barbara Gormley of Midlothian, Va., Betty Jo Williams of Gainesville, Ga., Angela Thomas of Moneta, Va.; and one son, Milton Douglas Owens of Virginia Beach, Va. In addition to her children she had seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Mrs. Owens was predeceased by her husband Milton Owens. A visitation will be held from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. today at Twiford's Colonial Chapel, Chesapeake, Va.. A graveside service will be held Sunday, Nov. 22, at 1:30 p.m. at Powells Point Baptist Church Cemetery in Powells Point. A buffet gathering will be held after the service at "The Pointe Golf Course" in Powells Point. Twiford's Funeral Home, Chesapeake, is handling the arrangements.
