Marlene Felton Campbell, 70, of the 300 block of White Oak Road, Eure, N.C., died Wednesday, May 30, 2007, at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie, N.C. Mrs. Campbell was born in Gates County and was the daughter of the late Mills and Ellis Rountree Felton. She had retired after 28 years as the bookkeeper and secretary at Gates County High School and was a member of Eure Christian Church, its choir and Ladies Fellowship. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her brother, Armstead Felton. Surviving are her husband of nearly 48 years, James Alton Campbell; two sons, Ray Campbell and wife, Nancy, of Eure, and Robert Campbell and wife, Teri, of Hobbsville, N.C.; three sisters, Mildred Bell and Janette Edwards, both of Eure, and Jackie Neely of Fuquay-Varina, N.C.; and four grandchildren, Elizabeth, Charlie, Ethan, and Colin Campbell. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Eure Christian Church by the Rev. Michael Brinkley and the Rev. Dr. Wayne Proctor. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family at the residence. Floral arrangements will be accepted or contributions in her memory may be made to Eure Christian Church, N.C. Highway 137, Eure, NC, 27935, and be designated for use by the church choir. Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, is in charge of arrangements.
