Robert Layden Forbes, a loving father, 77, of 334 Sleepy Hollow Road, Camden, died Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at his residence. Mr. Forbes was born in Camden, and was the son of the late Robert Lee Forbes and Cecile Marie Layden Forbes. He was a retired metals inspector with the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. Mr. Forbes was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Forbes is survived by three daughters, Sarah Hamilton and husband, Brad, of Walkertown, Roberta Forbes of Wake Forest, and Tracy Howard and husband, Joe, of Wichita Falls, Texas; two sons, Jay Forbes and wife, Linda, of Livingston, Texas and Mac Forbes and wife, Annette, of Manvel, Texas; three sisters, Doris Sample and husband, Vincent, of Broadbrook, Conn., Carolyn Sanders and husband, Garland, of Elizabeth City, and Janice Rich and husband, Albert, of Ithaca, N.Y.; a brother, Joe Forbes and wife, Wanda, of Camden; a grandchild, Robert Lee Forbes and wife, Brandi, of Alvin, Texas; and three great grandchildren, Jacob, Alison, and Zachary. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Sept. 17, 2010 at 3 p.m. at Sawyer's Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Jeffrey Sholar officiating. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service and at other times at the residence of his brother, Joe Forbes, 244 Sawyer's Creek Road, Camden.
