Robert Nixon Obituary
Edenton resident
Robert Lee Nixon, 85, of 129 Nixon Road, died Friday, April 17, 2009 in Chowan Hospital. Mr. Nixon was born in Chowan County and was the tenth child and only son of the late Robert Watson and Dixie Bunch Nixon. A retired farmer and commercial fisherman, he was a member of Rocky Hock Baptist Church and its Carey Evans Sunday School Class and had also retired after 21 years of service in the Center Hill-Crossroads VFD. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters; Willietta Whiteman, Cora Bunch, Lizzie Peele, Essie Harrell, Lucy Nixon, Bessie Bunch, Hettie Byrum and Annie Mary Harrell. Surviving are his wife, Audrey Berryman Nixon; two daughters, Sandra N. Boyce and husband, Rob, of Edenton and Becky N. West of Elkin, N.C.; his sister, Helen Harrell of Gates; six grandchildren, Farah Boyce, Kate Tayloe, Jim Boyce, Jessica Sadler, Erica West and Rebecca Dodd; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. in Rocky Hock Baptist Church by Dr. James Horton. Burial will follow in the Nixon Family Cemetery. Friends may join the family at the residence. Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be made to the family by visiting www.millerfhc.com.
