Sarah Berryman Stallings, 8, of 782 Sandy Cross Road, Hobbsville, N.C., died Sunday, Aug, 17, 2008, at the Skilled Nursing Facility of Chowan Hospital, Edenton, N.C. Mrs. Stallings was born in Chowan County the daughter of the late Vivian O. and Indian Bunch Berryman. A homemaker, she was a member of Sandy Cross Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Stallings, Sr.; her sister, Madeleine Smith; her brothers, Mavor and Wilson Berryman; and her son-in-law, Ed Noble. Surviving are her daugther, Marilyn S. Noble; her son, J.E. Stallings, Jr. and wife Rita, all of Hobbsville; two sisters, Lavenia Andleton of Portsmouth and Dorothy Wells of Norfolk; three grandchildren, Amber Stallings, Holly King and husband Mike and Michele Copeland and husband Neil; and four great-grandchildren, Devon Lake, Chase Copeland, and Ashby and Brylie King. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Tueday at Sandy Cross Baptist Church by the Rev. E. Vernon Gilmer Jr. and the Rev. Hugh Mizelle. Burial will follow in the Stallings Family Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main St., Gatesville, N.C., handing arrangements. Friends may join the family at the residence. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gates County Rescue Squad, Gatesville.
