Willie Moore Obituary

Portsmouth, Va. native

Willie David Moore, 55, of Tyner, N.C., died Jan. 10, 2009 at Albemarle Hospital. Mr. Moore was born in Portsmouth, Va, the son of the late Willie Densmond Moore and Jean Irene Wilson Moore. He is survived by his sons, Marshall D. Moore, and Douglas D. Moore; a daughter, Angela Black; three sisters, Brenda Parker, Diane Hewitt, and Debbie Bateman; and eight grandchildren, Corey, Gage, Jack, Clint, Erin, Toby, Harmony, and Olivia. In lieu of flowers please send a Bible or donation to: Willie's Way Outreach, 8612 Bronze Penny Court, Chesterfield, VA 23838. Bibles will also be collected at the service. This ministry is named for David and his amazing successful story. It's a program that reaches out to homeless people with a Bible and a meal. Our family wishes to acknowledge the two little angels that reached out to David, Sydni, age 10, and Christian, age 8, who asked their father to give him money then ran and gave David their father's Bible. Thanks to their wise parents, Rob and Ginger Charbonneau and their grandmother, Lucky these children knew compassion. God uses children because of their openness to love unconditionally to perform miracles. This Christian family opened their hearts, home, and church family to David and rescued him from the streets of Chesterfield, Va. They also reunited Willie (David) with his family one year ago just before Thanksgiving. Our hearts will be forever humbled by the work of God and his goodness in allowing us to see him perform such a miracle and we will be forever grateful for those who brought David home and committed to The Willie's Way Outreach Homeless Ministry. A memorial service will be Friday, Jan. 16, 2009, at 7 p.m. at Grandy Assembly of God, 121 Augusta Drive, Grandy, NC with Rev. Steven King officiating. Twiford's Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC is assisting with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed to the Moore family at www.twifordfh.com.

I did not know of your loss until today. I am so glad to know David was at peace in the end. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

This morning upon seeing this obit. with the same last name as mine, I first scanned for family names and then became very interested when seeing the requested donations for such a wonderful cause. Evidently David was homeless fairly recently and received help. What a great way to say thank you to the ones that were there when your family member needed help so badly.
There are still many good people in the world, and many good things happening like the ministry named for your David.

May God bless you greatly.
