GREENVILLE -- Charles Everett Sell, age 87, of Greenville passed away at 7:05 pm Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Hospice of Miami County in Troy.
Charles was born on February 5, 1938, in Darke County to the late Creele Estel Arthur & Susannah (Lavy) Sell. Charles was also preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia Mae (Ainsworth) Sell on September 3, 2019, whom he married November 30, 1957; son & daughter-in-law, Charles & Tammy (King) Sell, Jr.; siblings, Lee Sell, Ruby Wagner, Lester Sell, Calvin Sell, Martha Emrick, and Edith Howell; and foster sister, Geraldine "Gerry" Hodge.
Charles is survived by his daughters & sons-in-law, Jackie & Scott West of Winchester, Indiana, and Barbara & Laryl Cortner of Ridgeville, Indiana; grandchildren, Kyle West, and Kristen & Ryan Marchal; great grandchildren, Nolan West, Isaac West, Jude Marchal, Josephine Marchal, and baby Marchal on the way; step great grandchildren, Ayden Marchal and Lucy Marchal; brother & sister-in-law, Glen & Darlene Sell of Bradford; foster brother & sister-in-law, Edward & Robin Hodge of New York; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Charles was a 1956 graduate of Gettysburg High School. He retired in 1999 from Fram Corporation with 42 years of service. Charles was a church leader of a boy's youth group, Sunday School Teacher, song leader for worship services, and served as Sunday school Superintendent, Treasurer, and board member. Charles enjoyed flower gardening, reading, miniature golf, croquet, shooting pool, singing, baseball, especially the Cincinnati Reds, and his family tradition of making popcorn balls at Christmas. Charles volunteered at the Community Help Center in Union City and was always willing to help anyone in need.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, October 17, 2025, at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Richard Collins officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Township Memorial Garden. The family will receive friends on Friday from 11:00 to 1:00 pm at the funeral home.
