Helen Shafer Obituary
BRADFORD -- Helen V. Shafer, age 93 of Bradford, passed away Monday, May 2, 2022 at Brookdale of Troy. Helen was born in Preble County on September 22, 1928 to the (late) Herbert & Nettie (Brehm) Nisonger; a graduate of Arcanum High School, Class of 1946; worked at Patty's IGA, Bradford for 34 years; enjoyed crocheting and knitting; loved animals; and was an excellent cook. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe R. Shafer in 2002; daughter, Clara Frank; grandson, Brian Shafer; and sister, Esther Nisonger. Helen is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John & Doris Shafer of Bradford; four grandchildren, Kelly Kolb, Tracey (Brian) Goff, Chad (Lisa) Shafer, and Jonathan Shafer; seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Gloria Shafer of Bradford; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill & Ruthann Shafer of Covington, and Paul Shafer of West Milton; other relatives and friends. Interment of cremains Miami Memorial Park Cemetery, Covington with no public services. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice of Dayton or Miami County Animal Shelter, Troy. Condolences may be left for the family at www.stockerfraley.com.
