Michael Bruner Obituary

NEW MADISON -- Michael "Mike" D. Bruner, 70, of New Madison, Ohio, passed away, surrounded by his family, on July 6, 2023, at Reid Health in Richmond, Indiana.

He was born on May 29, 1953, in Greenville, Ohio, to the late Lloyd and Elizabeth (Ary) Bruner.

Mike is survived by his wife of 47 years, Robin (Wicker) Bruner, whom he married on September 12, 1975; his children, Marcy (Terry) Jackson of Harrison, Ohio, Matthew (Stacy) Bruner of Eldorado, Ohio, and Melanie (Ted) Miller of New Paris, Ohio; his grandchildren, Terrin Jackson, Haley Miller, Alex Jackson, Teddy Miller, Aaron Bruner, Caleb Miller, Alan Bruner, and Chris Miller; his siblings, Robert (Glenna) Bruner of Arcanum, Ohio, Charles "Chuck" (Marilyn) Bruner of Arcanum, Ohio, and Tom (Shirley) Bruner of New Madison, Ohio; his in-laws, Sandy (Leon Riddle) Carrol of Brownwood, Texas, Bob (Carol) Wicker of Winchester, Indiana, Vicki (Wayne) Schroeder of Aurora, Indiana, Diane Lindsey of Fort Recovery, Ohio, and Lori Young of Fort Recovery, Ohio; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his grandsons, Marcus Jackson and Austin Bruner; his siblings, Phyllis (Danny) Patrick, and Judy (Max) Sharp; and his in-laws, Pam Cox and Jackie Woodworth.

Mike was a 1971 graduate of New Madison High School. He was a plasterer by trade for many years. Mike worked at the Parker factory in Lewisburg for over 30 years, until he retired in 2016. Mike loved all things softball. In his early years, he coached, managed, and played men's league softball. Mike also coached girls summer softball in New Madison. His competitive nature did not stop on the field. He was known for always going the extra mile to win the races at the Bruner family reunions. In his free time, Mike loved gardening, hunting and fishing, woodworking, and playing golf and Wordscapes. Most of all, Mike loved his family and enjoyed teaching his grandkids how to do things the "right way".

A celebration of Mike's life will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at the New Madison United Methodist Church, with Pastor David Richey officiating.

Guests may visit with Mike's family on Friday, July 14, 2023, from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus, and again on Saturday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the church in New Madison.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be given to the New Madison United Methodist Church, P.O. 182, New Madison, Ohio 45386, or the Cancer Association of Darke County, P.O. Box 781, Greenville, Ohio 45331.
