VERSAILLES -- Michael "Pickle" Paul Gehret, age 64, of Willowdell Road, Versailles, passed away peacefully of natural causes early Monday morning, May 6, 2024, at the Versailles Rehab & Health Care Center in Versailles, Ohio. He was born October 29, 1959, in Coldwater, Ohio, to the late Vernon Gehret (who passed away in 1967) and Mary Ann (Broering) Gehret Grieshop who survives with her husband Louis Grieshop in Versailles. Also surviving are 16 of 17 siblings from the Gehret and Grieshop unions: Ann & Leroy DeMange of Yorkshire, Tom Gehret of New Bremen, Jane & Steve Selhorst of North Star, Larry & Mary Lou Gehret of Sidney, Dennis Gehret (dec.), Bob & Patty Gehret of Versailles, Carla & Roger Hartings of Maria Stein, Ted & Kellie Gehret of Minster, Lisa & Andy Paulus of Versailles, Susan & Tony Kramer of Osgood, Gene & Kathy Grieshop of Versailles, Jim Grieshop of Portland, IN, Larry & Ellen Grieshop of Versailles, Joyce & Don Frantz of Fort Recovery, Linda & Ed Dircksen of Minster, Mike & Nancy Grieshop of Versailles and Patty & John Schulze of Fort Loramie along with numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts & cousins. He was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Ron Albers and Bernie Osterloh; one niece, Hannah Gehret and a nephew, Jason Grieshop.
Mr. Gehret was a 1980 graduate of Versailles High School. In 2018 he retired from the Clopay Building Products Co. of Russia where he had been employed since 1984. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Fort Loramie and a past member of St. Denis Knights of Columbus. Pickle enjoyed fishing and calling on family and friends to stay in touch. He also took pleasure in cooking, gardening and canning; for himself and especially for sharing what one person wouldn't need.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM, Thursday, May 9, 2024, at St. Michael Church in Fort Loramie with Rev. Stephen Mondiek presiding. Interment will follow at St. Valbert Cemetery in Versailles. Family and friends may call Wednesday, 3:00 to 7:00 PM and Thursday 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie.
Memorials may be made to the Osgood Life Squad or Everheart Hospice.

Mary and Louie, Our sincere condolences on the lost of your son. We just read it on the Policy. I do realize it was a step son also. So difficult to loose a young soul. You are all in our thoughts. Love, Carolyn and Don Waymire
