VERSAILLES — Naomi Catherine Bemis, age 85, of Versailles, Ohio, passed away at 7:30 a.m., Monday, Oct. 18, 2021, at Village Green HealthCare Center in Greenville.
Naomi was born Dec. 15, 1935, in Red River to the late Theodore and Mary (Wagaman) Yount. In addition to her parents, Naomi was preceded in death by a grandson, John Keith Bemis; and brothers, Dale Yount and infant Bobby Yount.
Naomi is survived by her husband, Donald K. Bemis, whom she married Jan. 29, 1955; children, Tony Bemis of Versailles, Cheryl (Scot) Story of Highlands Ranch, Colo., and Diane (Gregory) Ray of North Canton; grandchildren, Allison (Maroun) Nammour, Theodore (Telisa) Bemis, Christine (Nathan) Vermillion, Mary Frances (Jonathan) Sigler, Ethan Story, Sean Story, Christopher (Rachel) Ray and Kathleen (David) Gewandter; great-grandchildren, Keith Sigler, Marie Sigler, Aria Nammour, Theodore Bemis Jr., Miles Gewandter and Mavis Ray; brother, Larry (Naomi) Yount of Gettysburg; sister, Lil Broughman of Bradford; and sister-in-law, Mary Alice Yount of Bradford.
Naomi was a homemaker and mother. She was a member of Webster United Methodist Church. Naomi enjoyed gardening, traveling, country music, baking and sewing. She loved spending time with her family.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021, at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor David Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Bradford. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. and Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
