GREENVILLE -- Rosalyn (Rosy) Ruth (McGriff) Brinley, age 83, was called home by the Lord on September 6, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 21, 1941, in Greenville Ohio to the late Byron & Mary (McEowen) McGriff.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 64 years, William E. Brinley who she married on June 10, 1961, at the St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Greenville, Ohio. Children: Gary (Marilyn) Brinley; Susan (Loren) Laux; Byron (Angie) Brinley, Grandchildren: Kevin (Chantel) Brinley and Great-Grandson Ethan Brinley; Kelley (Dustin) Holler; Shelby (Kevin) Jackson; Macy (Parker Bridenbaugh) Schepis; Brandon (Holly Huffman) Brinley; and Aaron (Magdalena Hampton) Brinley. Sisters & Brothers-in-Laws: Mary Alice & Eldon Wolter and Christina & Ronald Lyme. Sister-in-Law: Judy Brinley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by brother David McGriff, Niece Laura McGriff, and parents in-law Ralph & Mary (Lumpkin) Brinley.
Rosalyn graduated from Greenville High School in 1959. She worked as a secretary in the Tri-Village Local School District and then for the United States Postal Service until she retired in 2009. Rosalyn also maintained the financial records for a trucking business owned with her husband until 1999. Her and William spent many years after retiring as Winter Texans and enjoyed dancing, playing cards, taking walks, and traveling. Rosalyn treasured her children and grandchildren and looked forward to family events where many warm memories were made.
Rosalyn was a member of the Hollansburg Christian Church, served on the Board, and organized many events. She was also a 60-year member of the Fort Black Chapter of Eastern Star who will provide an Eastern Star Service at 7:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
The Family wishes to express their deep appreciation for the loving care provided to Rosalyn by caregivers Pam Hammons, Marcy Hightfield, and Bonnie Hutchens along with Lacey, Ashley, and Karen the nursing staff from Everhart Hospice.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the Hollansburg Christian Church, 172 Elm Street, Hollansburg, Ohio, with Pastor Tony Price officiating. Interment in the Hollansburg Cemetery will follow. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville and Thursday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the church.
Memorial Contributions may be given to EverHeart Hospice 1350 North Broadway Greenville, OH 45331 or Hollansburg Christian Church P.O. Box 88 Hollansburg, OH 45332 with envelopes available at the Funeral Home.
