Harry Fujimoto

Harry passed away peacefully in his Torrance home surrounded by his wife, Hisa; daughter, Elaine; and two sons, Douglas and Gerry. Born in Sacramento, CA, Harry was the youngest of six children. He was raised on an almond farm in Turlock until his internment at Amache relocation center in Colorado. After his family was released from their internment, Harry decided to serve his country and joined the US Army at seventeen years of age. After the Army he attended college at Cal Poly University in San Luis Obispo where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in horticulture. During college he met Hisa and they were married on July 25, 1954. They would spend the next fifty-four wonderful years together as husband and wife. They moved to their house in Torrance in 1968. In 1979 they became business owners, purchasing the Big Seven plant nursery. They owned and operated their own business for the next twenty years until their retirement. Harry was known as "Hoppy" to good friends and family. He will be remembered for his humor, loyalty and generosity to others. His passions were golf, fishing, gambling and later in life, spending time with his grandchildren, Kristi, Kelly, Jennifer and Allison. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A Memorial Service will be held at Green Hills Mortuary and Chapel at 27501 S. Western Avenue in Rancho Palos Verdes on Monday, February 9th at 11:00am.
