Herbert R. Mosley, 73, passed away peacefully at home on April 4 of congestive heart failure. Herb was born in Columbia, TN where he spent his first nine years before moving to Denver, CO. After graduating from Colorado State University and completing his military obligations, he moved to San Jose, CA where he worked as a technical writer at the United Technologies rocket testing facility and met his wife, Henrietta. They were married in Los Gatos in 1965 and moved to West Los Angeles, where Herb earned a master's degree in journalism at UCLA before pursuing a career in technical documentation for aerospace and, later, computer firms including Quotron Systems, Inc. and Teradata Corporation. Herb and Henrietta settled in Manhattan Beach in 1969. Their daughter, Jennifer was born in November of that year. A very gifted mechanic in his spare time, Herb spent many happy hours maintaining his Sunbeam Tiger, writing his Shop Notes column for the California Association of Tiger Owners, and responding to technical inquiries from other members. He was also a voracious reader with a deep interest in science and history and an insatiable appetite for periodicals. In addition to his wife of 46 years, Henrietta, Herb is survived by their daughter, Jennifer Lamb (Sean) of Madison, WI; grandson, Ryan J. Lamb; his sister, Lois V. Perry of Littleton, CO and several nieces and nephews. His wife, daughter, sister and "girl cousins" will always remember him as a sympathetic and respectful listener who cheered them on in pursuing their dreams. His friends will remember him as a gentle, friendly man whose quiet demeanor masked a treasure trove of wit and wisdom. Interment will be at Green Hills Memorial Park.
