Jane Smith Obituary
1930 - 2011
Jane Nettie Smith, a 64 year resident of Redondo Beach, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 in Torrance at the age of 81. She was born on June 1, 1930 in National City, CA to Brunett and Charles Grundstrom and was one of ten children. Jane worked for Metlox Pottery in Manhattan Beach, CA from 1948 to 1949. She volunteered at Madison Elementary School Library and was a prominent member of the PTA during the 1960's. Jane had many hobbies: sewing clothes, knitting/crocheting afghans, caps and scarves. One of her favorite travel spots was Las Vegas. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Charles Smith; son, Barry (Suzanne) Smith; daughter Brenda (Philip) Perdue; and daughter Suzanne (Robert) Ahulii. Also survived by four grandchildren, David (Tracy) Beyer; Felicia (Chris) Pim; Heather (Lauren) Smith and John Ahulii. In addition, there are two great-grandchildren, Kylee and Mackenzie Pim. Jane is also survived by two sisters and one brother. She was always there to lend a helping hand and loved her family unconditionally. Jane will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.The Memorial Service will be held at Rice Mortuary in Torrance on December 10, 2011 at 2:00 pm. The reception will immediately follow in Rice's Lighthouse Reception Room from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm. Please sign the guestbook at www.dailybreeze.com/obits. Brenda, I am so sorry about the passing of your mother. Remember the good times, as I know from the many conversations that we had have over the years, that your mother loved you and other family members. My family remembers their baby blankets, which are now 32 yrs and 29 yrs old. They still use them today. Praying for you and your family during this time. Love Lois Forge.
