Janet L. Dion

The family of Janet L. Dion is mourning her passing. She died of complications from Cardiac Arrest, October 17 at Torrance Memorial Hospital. Janet was born in Seattle, Washington, and moved to Long Beach at two years of age. She was a first generation American, her father, Klaus Jensma was born in Holland, and her mother, Mina Burke a Canadian.

She spent the balance of her life in Southern California and had a deep connection with the South Bay. She attended Long Beach Wilson High and then graduated from UCLA with a degree in Business. In 1950 she met and eventually married her life-long partner, Mitchell Dion Jr. of Long Beach. They moved to the Palos Verdes Peninsula in the early days, where $ 20,000 could buy a tract house on the Peninsula. Janet managed a successful career in Real Estate in Palos Verdes, while also raising two children. Lindsay and Mitch III. Later in life she focused her many organizational talents on community and charity work. From 1971-72 she was President of the National Charity League. Her passions were gardening and travel.

She is survived by her husband Mitch Dion Jr., and her children, Lindsay Dion of Springville, CA. and Mitch Dion III and his wife Sydney Dion of Truckee, CA. Her Grandchildren are Dustin and his wife Debbie and their sons Kyle and Nate of Houston, TX, Kelsey Dion of Placerville, CA, and Evan Dion of Santa Monica, CA.
