JoAnn Bogdanovich

1940 - 2022

Jan. 24, 1940 - Feb. 4, 2022 JoAnn Bogdanovich (Also known as Sister Margaret Mary) passed away on Friday February 4th, 2022. She was born on January 24th, 1940, in San Pedro and spent the majority of her life here. JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Margaret Bogdanovich and her brother, Mitchell Bogdanovich. She will be greatly missed by her sister Barbara Jean Bogdanovich and her sister-in-law, Barbara Ann Bogdanovich, her niece and nephews, Joseph Kenneth (Kathy) Bogdanovich, Joseph Mitchell (Cynthia) Bogdanovich and Wendy (Patrick) Di Leva. Her great nieces and nephew, Danielle, Kristin, Micaela, Aurora, Savannah, and Austin Bogdanovich. JoAnn graduated from San Pedro High School in 1958. She immediately tried to join the sisterhood of the catholic church and was continually turned down because of her handicap. She went to work in the billing department of StarKist Foods but continued her endeavor to join the sisterhood. She was finally accepted in 1984 when she joined the Immaculate Heart of Mary located in Los Angeles. She took the name of Sister Margaret Mary. After 25 years as a Nun, the Immaculate Heart of Mary was closed down. Rather than joining another order, she decided to return to San Pedro. JoAnn spent much of her time volunteering at Holy Trinity as a member of the Legion of Mary and taught CCD classes for the young. Funeral services for JoAnn will be held on Tuesday February 22nd at Holy Trinity at 10am. Burial will follow at Green Hills Memorial Park.
