Dearest Daryl, Doug, and Lynn, and the entire family,
My heart-felt condolences are sent to all of you during this difficult time of your lives! Your mom was a first class lady! Our friendship together spand over 60 years! Nita loved her immediate family with her whole heart but also had room for all the many children she touch within her long-standing teaching career! I know you had to share your mother with her dear friends and extended children she nurtured throughout the years. I am so thankful I was able to visit your mom in August and spend several hours reminiscing about the memories we shared throughout the span of time! Your mom was the most generous, down to earth, loving, thoughtful, kind, hard-working, strong woman, highly intelligent, energized educator, I have ever known! Nita's life always was purposeful and filled with friends! She loved to entertain and opened her home on weekends for her bunch of teenagers to come over and swim and share fellowship time together! Nita knew no stranger! Fifteenth Street School Faculty and students were blessed to have her not only as an educator but also as an administrator! She listened and problem solved while giving advice and guidance to future educators. I know because I was a prodigy of Nita's hard work!
Nita you are now in your eternal home dancing, loving, and being with all of your fellow friends you have know over the span of your teaching career and life! You finished the race of life as a champion! You will always be in my heart and I will rejoice when we will be able to reunite in heaven!

I knew Nita Davies when I was a student at 15th Street Elementary school in San Pedro from 1971-78. One of the kindest staff members that I have ever met. I again saw her when I went to Ascension Lutheran Church in Rancho Palos Verdes. A wonderful and blessed woman is now in her heavenly father's care

Nita, you are home with your Lord. You lived a life many would envy. You taught me so much more than quilting and how to make jam.
Thank you to my son Tyler Davies, and husband, Chuck for supporting me through these past months and allowing me to be there by her side for this last phase of her journey on Earth.
Thank you dear friends for all the many ways you have held me up which allowed me to remain strong.
I lost my own mom when she was just 59, my current age, and she was my very best friend. She was the kindest woman I have ever been blessed to know. She never uttered an unkind word about anyone. She never could turn away a stray doggie. She baked for everyone: family, friends, the bank teller. Family came first. She prided herself on being a good wife and mom and my dad, sister and I were her world. I learned unconditional love through her. Her absence has left a profound impact on me, but the values they instilled in me and the kindness & compassion for others guide me.
I truly believe that the people who we encounter in our lives are placed there in God's bigger plan. Ten years ago, he placed Nita's granddaughter in my third grade class and an instant friendship was sparked. It blossomed. In spite of a 35 year age gap, we shared many similar philosophies and interests. She volunteered in my class and became their Mima. She delighted in their read alouds. She loved watching me teach. Sometimes, I would look up to see her smiling and nodding.
Seven years ago she introduced me to Delta Psi. She raved about the principles on which DKG was founded and boasted about her sisters and their mission. I was incredibly humbled when she invited me to join her chapter. You women and what you do for other educators and children are wonderful, but how you support and love one another is amazing.
After retiring four years ago, Nita and I began spending even more time together. We laughed, solved the world's problems, shared stories, laughed, sewed, shopped, went out to what became our favorite lunches, and laughed some more. Having Nita in my life was like seeing who my mom would have been as a golden girl if God hadn't called her home so early.
The love and care I gave Nita was one of the last gifts I could give such a deserving friend. Another is to be the kind of Delta Psi sister she taught me to be. She was so prideful of building scholarships to help bring quality educators into teaching.
Another gift I can give Nita is to continue her legacy of compassion and kindness.
I know her shoes are hard to fill.
And she will be watching. I can't mess it up!

Please accept my deepest sympathy in the passing of Nita. She was a wonderful lady whose kindness and generosity towards me as her granddaughters' teacher meant more than words can express. May your memories of this remarkable woman comfort you during this sad time. Sherrill Truax
