Katherine Lackerdas Obituary
Katherine, or Kay, was born in Whiting IN and graduated from George Rodgers Clark High School. She met her future husband Gus at Madura's Danceland in Whiting and they married in 1946. In 1957 McDonnell Douglas Aircraft moved them and their four children to San Pedro, CA. Gus passed away in 1963 and Kay began working at the Bank of America in San Pedro. The church was important to Gus and Kay, and she and Gus were active and founding members of Christ Lutheran Church. In later years Kay joined Trinity Lutheran Church and after retirement in 1989 she joined the Community Lutheran Church in Escondido. Kay enjoyed almost 40 years of grand parenting and great grand parenting, and passed away peacefully in the presence of her children on January 12, 2017. She is survived by her children Kathleen, Harry, Joseph, George, 14 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, her sister Angeline Figlewicz and multitudes of nieces and nephews. Kay came into my life when I was a confused young lady. She rescued me several times, and shared her great love for Jesus to me by being a living example of a daughter of the most high. I have memories of love for her, and I know where she is and will be with her again. I love you Kay (mom).

Hi, Kathy and Harry,
Sorry to hear about your mom. Hope she wasn't in much pain. I think Kathy was a year ahead of me, and Harry was in my brother Don's grade. Don told me Harry was on our little league team. My dad is 100 years old and lives in the same house we grew up in. He said he thinks your mom worked for him at the Bank of America by Peck Park. Didn't you live just up the street from there off Crestwood?
I e-mailed the obituary to David Graham, Barbara LaFlamme, and Marilyn VanDuesen (Pine). I've seen them all within the last couple years.

My sincerest sympathy in your great loss. Many feel that death is a natural part of life, but we were created to enjoy earth's beauty forever, not a limited amount of years. God "put eternity" into our hearts, the desire to live forever. (Ecclesiastes 3:11).
