Lynn Kusar Obituary

Sept. 19, 1951 - Jan. 2, 2023 After years of complications, multiple surgeries, and other health issues because of a failed spinal surgery which left her paralyzed in 2012, Lynn passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her children on January 2, 2023. Born in San Pedro on September 19, 1951, to Lucille DiMeglio and Lester Hugh Martin. When Lynn was a young girl, her mother was remarried to Frank Pilichi. He raised her as his own and she had a very close, loving relationship with him. She attended Mary Star of the Sea School from elementary school through high school, Class of 1969. After graduation, Lynn received her Cosmetology license. She would marry the love of her life, Don, in 1972 and shared 50 years of marriage to her sweetheart. A few short years later, she became a mother to the two joys of her life, Jason and Aimee. Her children were her greatest accomplishments, and she enjoyed being active and involved in their schools and would often lend her artistic and creative talents to help at their events at Holy Trinity and Mary Star. Lynn's home was a place of meticulous beauty. She found joy in decorating and entertaining; a place of warmth and welcome to all who walked through the doors. She was a natural listener and confidant for many. An inspiration and beautiful example of a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She had a pure light and natural gift for making people feel special and loved just by her warmth and kindness. Her smile lit up the room. Lynn never let her disability and trials deter her faith from God and her devotion to the Mother of Perpetual Help. She often found comfort in surrendering her struggles to God and trusting in His plan for her. Lynn is survived by her children: Jason (Maria) Kusar, Aimee (Anthony) Meyers; grandchildren: Justin and Jaden Lynn Kusar, Yvonna, Wyatt, and Walker Meyers; brother, Robert Martin; mother-in-law, Lucretia Kusar; sister-in-law, Jeri Lu Kusar and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald A. Kusar, Jr.; mother, Lucille Pilichi; father, Lester Hugh Martin; step-father, Frank Pilichi; brother, Mickey Martin; sister-in-law, Mercy Martin. Special thanks to our wonderful caregivers who have become family over the years, Rosalinda, Norma and Antonia. Funeral Mass to be held on Friday, January 27th, 10:00am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, San Pedro. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Mary Star of the Sea High School in memory of Lynn M. Kusar.

I just want to express my condolences to the family. Learning of Lynn´s death and funeral was a shock since she was my Godmother and I am sure that you all are having a difficult time. I would have been honored to attend the funeral had I known, but please accept this message in lieu since that wasn´t possible. I pray that you as a family receive peace and know that you will be in my prayers

Dear Kusar kids and family, I am so sorry to hear about your mom´s passing. I had the privilege of knowing both your mom and dad, during the more difficult times of their lives. Despite all of the medical "stuff" they both dealt with, it was ALLWAYS a pleasure to see them, to work with them both, to laugh and sometimes shed tears with them. Both of their smiles were about as beautiful as smiles can get; through thick and thin, their love for each other and for you guys
overshadowed the obstacles that life threw their way, your way as a family.
Please accept my deepest condolences...
