Manuel "Manny" Amaro

1952 - 2021

02/23/1952 - 01/27/2021 Manuel Ramos Amaro or "Manny" left this world peacefully on January 27th, 2021 to be reunited with his tia, Guadalupe Morales, his mother, Beatriz Ramos Gonzalez, his father, Jose Manuel Amaro, and his brothers, Carlos R. Gonzalez, Raul R. Gonzalez, and Carlos "Carluchi" Castro. Manuel was born February 23rd, 1952 in San Pedro, California. He graduated from Banning High School in Wilmington, Ca in the summer of 1970. Manuel was known as "Guppy" at Banning High and will be remembered for running the halls and hanging out with his "Wilmington Boys". Mr. Sells, the attendance administrator, knew Manuel all too well. Manuel was never caught without a smile and was known to make friends with everyone he met. Manuel will always be remembered by the countless friends he made during his career in the auto industry, he got his start at Avis Rent A Car in Wilmington. Manuel was a "car guy" through and through, beginning with the first Super Shuttles at the LAX Airport. He spent many years working in auto sales and finance at multiple dealerships throughout Southern California. He continued his passion with the buying and selling cars just before his passing. Manuel enjoyed spending time with his family and children. Manuel had many nieces and nephews who he loved and visited as often as he could. Spending time with his siblings and their families was extremely important to him. He loved the South Bay community dearly and never failed to mention he was born and raised in Wilmington. Manuel enjoyed trips with his children and grandchildren, watching his son Alexander's ice hockey games, celebrating Gabrielle's academic endeavors and Nicholas' professional accomplishments. Manuel is survived by his loving sisters Helena Saldana, Vida Milla, Aida Morales, Alyssa Amaro, and Angie Amaro, his children, Alexander Joseph Manuel Amaro, Gabrielle Giselle Guadalupe Amaro, and Nicholas Manuel Amaro, Nicholas' wife Emilee Amaro, his grandchildren Oliver Amaro, and Landon Manuel Amaro. Manuel's family will celebrate his life with a mass at Mary Star of the Sea in San Pedro. He will then be laid to rest at Green Hills Memorial Park with his older brother Carluchi Castro.
