Mary "Mimi" O'Hern

1955 - 2022

1955 - 2022 Mimi O'Hern, 67, of Manhattan Beach passed away on November 1, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer. Mimi was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to Thomas and Margaret O'Hern. She attended St. John Fisher elementary and middle school and then to Rolling Hills High School. She obtained her business degree from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. At Cal Poly she was a founding member of the Alpha Phi chapter. After college Mimi joined the Capital Group and spent her entire 33-year career with Capital. Early in her career she moved to London to open the Capital Group office there. She moved back to Los Angeles in the early 2000's and spent the rest of her career there, retiring as a senior vice president in 2012. Mimi was a wonderful sister, aunt, daughter and friend. She was kind, loyal, very smart and had a sharp and at times sarcastic sense of humor. She loved her life at the beach and was often seen darting around the South Bay in her beloved 911. She also loved being a world traveler and frequently headed off to any destination that suited her at the time. She was an avid Dodgers and Lakers fan. Mimi is survived by her twin brother, Tom O'Hern and his wife Lori and her nephews Tommy and Augie O'Hern and nieces Ellie and Maggie O'Hern. Services will be held on Thursday November 10 at 10:00 at American Martyrs Church in Manhattan Beach followed by a burial at Green Hills Cemetery in Rancho Palos Verdes. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to one of Mimi's favorite charities, the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
