Robert "Bob" Weisenberg Obituary

Robert "Bob" Owen Weisenberg was born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 22, 1934. He passed peacefully on May 22, 2018.
Bob was born to David and Marie Weisenberg, the third of five children. He recalled the day that WWII ended, with children riding their bikes and people shouting for joy in the streets. He graduated from Cleveland Heights High School in 1952. Bob attended Miami University of Ohio and was a member of the ZBT fraternity. It was there that he went on a single date with Barbara A. Lipscomb.
After graduation, Bob served on active duty in the US Army from 1957 to 1959 in Germany, and remained in the Army Reserves until 1963. He started his stint in the Army as a clerk/typist, but spent much of his time teaching math to his fellow soldiers. He always recalled his time in the Army fondly, spending much of his time touring around Europe in his little MG.
Bob moved to Southern California in 1962, where he began his career as a computer programmer. He was living in Los Angeles when a mutual friend told him that Barbara Lipscomb was living in San Diego. Almost 10 years after their first date, Bob drove down to San Diego to take Barb on a second date. As evidenced by their 42 years of marriage and three kids, the second date was better than the first.
Bob worked in the aerospace industry for several years, but spent the bulk of his career at William O'Neil & Co., as a senior analyst and computer programmer manager. There, he invented a predictive algorithm called Algol which was one of the first successful means of predicting the stock market. He spent the next 30 years working for O'Neil, which eventually became the Investor's Business Daily. His hobbies included sports, cheap beer, collecting watches, and reading three newspapers a day along with a few select novelists. Above all, Bob was known for his quick wit and his devoted loyalty to his family, especially his beloved grandchildren.
Bob and Barbara moved to Palos Verdes, California in 1966, raising their beloved children, Scott, Bruce and Susie. Bob loved coaching his children's soccer teams when they were growing up. Bob and Barbara retired to Palm Desert, California in 2000. His greatest joys in his later years were his grandchildren, Seth and Logan. A few years after Barbara passed away in 2007, Bob found love a second time when he married Sandra Levander Weisenberg.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Barbara, who passed in 2007. Bob is survived by his children, son Scott A. Weisenberg (Erin Rich) who works a doctor and resides in New York City, son Bruce E. Weisenberg who works as an attorney and resides in San Francisco, and daughter Susan Gilefsky (Judd Gilefsky) who works as an attorney and resides in Manhattan Beach, with his beloved grandchildren Seth and Logan.
