Robert G. Schwarz
Bob Schwarz, 87, passed away in Torrance on December 3, 2015 surrounded by his family. He was born in Woodland Hills, CA on February 17, 1928 and moved to San Pedro when he was 12 years old. He joined the U.S. Army when he was 18 years old and served in the Motor Pool. He married Shirley Davis when she was 17 and he was 19 years old. They were just a few weeks shy of their 68th wedding anniversary. Upon retirement, they joined a Motor Home Club creating many friendships as they traveled throughout North America. Bob was a master mechanic and was in the service station business for 45 years. He owned the Riviera Shell Station on the Torrance-Redondo Beach border for 40 years. Bob's lifelong passion was building race boat engines. In the late 70's, Bob started driving power boats pulling World Class Skiers in the Queen Mary to Catalina Ski Race as well as many other competitions. Bob was a member of the Long Beach Boat & Ski Club and a 56-year Member of the Redondo Beach Elks Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Jack and Kenny Schwarz. Bob is survived by his loving wife Shirley, Son Bob (Denise), Daughter Judy (Frank) Winn, grandchildren Jenny Schwarz, Jeanette Graham, Denise Graham, Marinacci (Steve) and Adam Schwarz; great grandchildren Carter and Cameron Marinacci along with Bob's brother Ralph (Dora) Schwarz of Sylmar. A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2015, at 11:00am in Green Hills Memorial Chapel. Please sign the guestbook at dailybreeze.com.
