Ruth DeLeon Obituary
Our family is deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Aunt and friend, Ruth DeLeon, born on June 24, 1929, in Las Animas, Colorado (but celebrated on October 24th). Ruth was born to Inez and Genoveba Villanueva and is the last of six siblings to pass away. She went to be with our Lord on April 4, 2015. Preceded in death by her husband, Manuel A. DeLeon, Grandsons, John DeLeon Jr., Sal C. DeLeon and her one and only son-in-law Felix Meraz, Jr. She is survived by her children, Manuel Jr. (Linda); John (Rosali); Thomas (Doreen); Peter (former spouse Noreen); Cynthia Meraz; Albert; Elizabeth DeLeon, 19 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, numerous nephews, nieces and friends. She moved to San Pedro at an early age and was a devout Catholic and enjoyed attending her Peck Park and Wilmington VFW senior citizen clubs. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held from 1-5 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Mc Nerney's Mortuary in San Pedro with a Rosary service at 7p.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Funeral mass will be offered on Friday, April 10, 2015 at 10 a.m. also at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with interment to follow at Green Hills Memorial Park. Grandma in Heaven
Heavenly Father took Grandma
up to Heaven when she died.
When my Mother and Father told me
All I could do was cry.
I asked Heavenly Father
why my Grandma had to die.
I cried myself to sleep, and dreamt
that Grandpa would tell me why.
"Mijo, I know how you miss
your Grandma's tender touch.
I know how much you love her,
and she loves you very much.
But I missed her too, mijito
so Heavenly Father brought her here.
If you could see our happiness
you wouldn't shed one tear."
When I awoke from dreaming
the wonderful dream I had
About Grandma being with Grandpa,
I didn't feel so bad.
