ALVINA KATHERINE HIGGINS

Alvina Katherine "Noo Noo" Higgins of Elgin, Illinois, passed away Oct 4, 2013. She was born April 14, 1931, to Oliver and Katherine Emery in Winona, Minnesota. Beloved wife of Robert H. Higgins, whom she married August 7, 2000. Mother of Sharon Poole, Gayle (Corey) Toppel, Donna (Jeff) Saurbaugh, Laura (Jerry) Kline, Susan (Mike) Tilkian. Grandmother of Jenny, Spring, Justin, Nick, Jeff, Jaclyn, Jake, Luke, Dane, Rhett, Carly, Raja, Simone, Lilah. Great-grandmother of Joe, Jacob, Kaylee, Hayden, and Liam. She will also be missed by Robert's children, April (Jeff) Kent, Ann (Scott) Nerger, Robert (Jenny) Higgins, and his grandchildren, Kyle, Megan, Michael, Quinn, Henry. She is preceded in death by her husband Edwin R. Boppre, whom she married June 6, 1953, and was married for 44 years. She is also preceded in death by her son Paul E. Boppre and her daughter-in-law Sue Boppre. Alvina graduated from Elgin High School in 1949. She was a stay-at-home mother to their six children, and later was a talented seamstress. She enjoyed people, camping, babysitting, reading, and the Chicago Cubs. Upon her retirement, she and Robert traveled the world. She was a genuine, warm, fun-loving, young-at-heart person who always wanted to serve other people. She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched. Although her travels on earth are done, they've only just begun in Heaven. A celebration of life will be held at Willow Lake Estates Clubhouse, 161 W.
