Edward Pearson of Boulder passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 1, 2017 in Boulder. He was 88 years old. He was born on August 7, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois the son of Edward Pearson and Alfhild Manson Pearson. He married Eleanor Wilson on October 12, 1957 in Chicago, they moved to Deerfield, Illinois in 1958, Boulder, Colorado in 1976, Longmont, Colorado in 1990 and back to Boulder in 1999. He attended Northwestern University, Chicago and the University of Colorado, Boulder. He was a life member of Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity. He was a veteran having enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He served with the 301st Signal Photo Company, honorably discharged in 1954 as a staff sergeant. He worked on the editorial staff of Time-Life as a photographer. In 1957, he transferred to the editorial production and research staff where he was instrumental in developing the process to transmit color photographs via satellites worldwide. He retired as Operations Production Manager of Sports Illustrated Magazine after 23 years with Time Incorporated. In 1976 as Operations Manager for the Recreational Vehicle Dealers Association, he moved his family and the corporation headquarters to Boulder, Colorado. In 1979, he joined the Wright & McGill Company (Eagle Claw) as Production and Inventory Control Manager. He attained national certification (CPIM) in this field and retired in 1991 at the age of 63. He was an avid photographer, golfer, gardener, and loved to travel. He enjoyed boating, was a member of the Skokie Valley Power Squadron, Skokie, Illinois, and was a Lt. Commander, charter member, treasurer and instructor for the Boulder Valley Power Squadron. He enjoyed power boating and sailing on the ocean and inland waterways. He was a life member of the Boulder Elks 566 and was the photographer for 10 years. Certified in the use of firearms, he held a permit from Boulder County and was a member of the National Rifle Association. He also was a member of the Longmont Moose Lodge 1548, the American Legion Post 32, the United States Golf Association, St. Vrain Rose Society, Boulder Valley Rose Society and the American Rose Society, a Good Sam Camping Organization life member and served as an Election Judge for Boulder County for many years. He lived in Longmont from 1990 to 1999. During that time, he was a police volunteer for the Longmont Police Department for 8 years and was instrumental in the formation of the volunteer program to enforce parking for the disabled. He also served on the Longmont advisory council for the Senior Center, and on the Longmont's council for the Arts in Public Places. After that, Edward and Eleanor moved back to Boulder and lived at the Presbyterian Manor where they were active seniors in the community. Edward lost the love of his life Eleanor in 2015. In 2016, he moved to a senior living community and enjoyed a quality lifestyle for the rest of his days. He was a member of the Mount Calvary Lutheran Church and First Presbyterian church in Boulder. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and very much loved by his family and all his friends. Edward will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his four children, Linda Pearson Highfill of Galveston Texas, Edward A. Pearson of Loveland Colorado, James D. Pearson and wife Kimberly of Broomfield Colorado, and Laura L. Pearson and fiancé Bjorn Hoffman of Crystal River, Florida, grandchildren, Lyndsee, Edward, Elise, Harry, Ashlei, Dylan, Liam, and great grandchildren Giavanna and Vivian, his niece Sharon Pearson, nephew George and wife Adele Pearson. Preceded in death by his parent's, his beloved wife Eleanor Pearson of 58 years, a brother George E. Pearson, and daughter-in-law Allison B. Pearson. In accordance with his wishes, funeral/memorial services will not be held. There will be a private family service with interment at Green Mountain Cemetery in Boulder. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a
charity of the donor's choice. The family sincerely thanks everyone who has offered their support and condolences.
