Fred Liedtke

1937 - 2016

Fred A. Liedtke, of Boulder, CO died on Friday, January 22, 2016 at home after a brief illness. He was born in Berwyn, IL and raised in La Grange Park, IL. Fred attended Lyons Township High School where he met his wife, Mary Ann. He graduated from De Pauw University in Greencastle, IN, married in 1960 and then moved to Glen Ellyn, IL, started his family and began his career with IBM. In the mid 70's, IBM transferred them to Lexington, KY for two years and then to Boulder, CO, where he completed his 30 year career. After retirement, Fred enjoyed fly fishing, tending a garden at home as well as the Bear Creek Community Garden. Fred was an avid sports fan - always rooting for his home teams. Go Broncos! But most of all Fred cherished spending time with his family. Fred is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Ann, daughters, Beth Williamson (Brad), Louisville, KY, Kathleen Lovell (Brad), Lexington, KY, Ann Theodore (Marc), Lafayette, CO, grandchildren, Kate Williamson Gray (Colin), Jeff Williamson, Ben Williamson, Allyson Lovell, Charlie Lovell, Kathryn Theodore, Cooper Theodore, brother, Chuck Liedtke, Shorewood, IL and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Nancy Anderson and JoAnn Lohman. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the National Park Foundation. A celebration of Fred's life will take place in late spring.
